Spanning over 7 acres there is lots to enjoy while you are here. Families, fishermen, Wicked Tuna fans and guests are able to enjoy all our waterfront venues. Dock & Dine with us…a very popular destination if you are coming by boat. Our friendly dock staff and Dockmaster will greet you as you arrive. The Marina allows for short term and overnight tie-ups. Whether a destination meal out or overnight stay is in your plans while you’re here please dine with us. Our Dockmaster monitors Channel 10 on VHF and is standing by to help and catch your lines. The Fuel Dock and pumpout offer extended hours with the best fuel and fueling facility around. Be sure to let us know if you need our assistance.
The marina hosts many small businesses & community events too. Boat Charters for all sorts of fishing, sightseeing, cruising, diving, birding and more. During the giant bluefin tuna season, you can experience the tuna frenzy of boats, fishermen and enthusiasts just waiting to catch their “giant”. The marina also hosts the annual Bluefin Blowout fishing tournament and other fishing tournaments as well.
The Resort is just a short walk away from downtown Gloucester, Stage Fort Park with all its beauty, beaches and playground. Gloucester is filled with more than 375 years of history as an important New England port with rich fishing and maritime tradition. Have fun exploring.
About Mile Marker One…
In 2010 the Dominicks concepted Mile Marker One, which started on the Bridge Deck and then hosted a small dining room directly on the water serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Since then it has grown into a great venue to Dock & Dine, host a family birthday, go on a date, chill with other friends and guests year round.
About the name… While on a family vacation in the Carolinas in the eighties, the Dominicks were reading a local guide and it told a story about the Intercoastal Waterway. The story in the guide lead them to learn that our hometown of Gloucester, MA marked the beginning of the Intercoastal Waterway and ends in Key West, FL…Technically, Mile Marker One is a little further than one mile from the official starting point, but to us we are proud to bring this watering hole to you on the water as Mile Marker One!
We welcome all travelers, guests, locals, captains and mates whether by land or sea to our waterfront restaurant and bar. Our goal was to create a year round venue for guests to eat, drink, chill and relax. This February 2020, we renovated and redesigned our year round (indoor) dining room & bar. The goal was to create a better functioning space that was warm and inviting. Our seasonal Bridge Deck is also part of Mile Marker One, open seasonally, this local hangout and hotspot in the summer months hosts deck dining for breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks all day. Also a raw bar, Rum Shack, and entertainment to make you always feel your on vacation.

Tobin and Drew Dominick, sister and brother, continue to maintain and expand the family business that their parents, Andy and Bonnie, built starting in 1971. Since acquiring the business in 2014 a large portion of seawall closest to the river was replaced. This renovations and reinvestment in the infrastructure provided the platform for the pool deck to be enclosed to keep up with the demand of guests extending their stay and dining year round. The pool was renovated and converted to salt-water. In 2019 the adjacent parking lot previously used by former tenant of the marina, The Yankee Fleet, was acquired by the Dominicks. Currently they are seeking permission to build an indoor boat storage facility to respond to the increasing demand for boat storage in a temperature controlled environment. Today, a large portion of the boats kept at the marina in the summer leave Gloucester to be stored elsewhere because the marina or Gloucester does not have a facility to accommodate them. This is a unique economic development and opportunity for the marina itself, but also for jobs and economic prospects for Gloucester. With two marine travel lifts and hydraulic trailers, Cape Ann Marina accommodates in the water and out of the water boat storage for boats as big as 90′. While many boats are stored on trailers and can legally go over the road to one’s back yard, there are many boats that can’t go on a trailer or over the road. So when it comes to indoor storage for a large boat that can’t go over the road, the marina will be able to get those big boats inside because they never have to leave the property. This is unique in today’s world and on our portion of developed coastlines and harbors. On the property there are other buildings and seawalls that need maintenance or redevelopment. There are plans for those projects, as soon as time and resources allow. Permitting for such maintenance and redevelopment is a process because of our waterfront, tidelands and environmental regulations.
The Dominicks and many of the boaters at the marina call, this their second home. The commitment to keep up with the marina industry, the customer demands and expectations are foremost in our planning. As boats get bigger with more efficient systems and engines; the waterfront pump-out and fueling capabilities evolve; and the desire, to have clean water and run environmentally friendly businesses onsite and year round, is a commitment the Dominicks are not about to give up on. Since 1972 when the doors opened, the public, the community, mariners, fishermen (famous and not so famous), guests, visitors and friends have made this destination, with a touch of salt, what it is today. Together they are poised to take all their businesses into the future.
