A little more about the cause…
A little background about Bridget’s mom’s condition:
“My mother, Kathy, was diagnosed with COPD in 1990. It didn’t slow her down; she kept working and living life regularly as a single mother of two. This changed in 2013, when a routine shoulder surgery paralyzed her diaphragm and left her breathing capacity at about 10%. This compromised her quality of life, as she was too sick to work and take care of normal household tasks. After becoming disabled, she has had two heart attacks and hip surgery. My mother has been hospitalized multiple times a year with complications from all of these health struggles, and most often with an inability to breathe. Sometimes, she gets Pneumonia after being in contact with something as simple as the common cold, which compromises her practically nonexistent immune system. She has three grandchildren, two under the age of 7, with whom she would love to go outside and play. On particularly warm or cold days, however, her breathing condition keeps her inside, so even sitting outside to watch the grandkids play isn’t an option.

My mom is currently on the waiting list at Mass General Hospital-Boston for a double lung transplant. As you can imagine, the transplant will be extremely expensive, and that’s where this tournament comes in. The money brought in by this tournament and raffles will help offset all the costs involved with the lung transplant and the aftercare.”
